BPW Scholarship House at FSU
BPW/Tallahassee helps support the BPW Scholarship House at Florida State University, which is home to 21 young women who meet certain financial criteria. Without the BPW house, they might not otherwise be able to attend college. BPW/Tallahassee members mentor the young women in the house to help them prepare for their futures.
The scholarship houses are cooperative living environments in which the residents learn skills necessary to operate the houses effectively and efficiently. The students elect officers who ensure that the bylaws of the house are followed. The residents are responsible for all house operations, including finances, cleaning, and purchasing and preparing food.
The house is funded by the Southern Scholarship Foundation and the BPW/Florida Education Foundation with BPW/Tallahassee serving as liaison. BPW/Tallahassee members host fundraising activities to benefit the house and to supplement the funds provided by the Foundations.
Donations can be made to the BPW/Florida Education Foundation in several ways: credit cards are accepted on line; pledges which can be paid monthly, quarterly, or annually; corporate matching donations.
